Community Liaison Committee
The South Canoe CLC serves as an avenue of exchange between the community and project team, bringing to the table local ideas, concerns, and interests in relation to the project. Members of the CLC represent the geographical area of the Municipality of the District of West Hants and Chester. The group has been meeting regularly since February 2012 and will continue to meet on a bi-monthly basis over the coming years. Observers are welcome to attend meetings and can contact [email protected] to learn about upcoming meetings.

In the Community
On June 5th, we welcomed over 350 students from New Ross Consolidated School, Forest Heights Community School, Chester Area Middle School, and Liverpool Regional High School. We showed the students our sub-station, operations and maintenance building, and an operating turbine. All had a great time! Please contact us at [email protected] for a student tour of the site.
Project team members John Woods and Mary-Frances Lynch, along with artist Darlene Morrison, visited grades 5/6 students in New Ross and Chester during the 2013 and 2014 school years. Students creatively made and named their very own wind turbines. Take a look at the thirty-four names they came up with. Thank you to our Community Liaison Committee for spearheading this great idea!

The project team has also taken in some of New Ross’ finest events – the New Ross Summer Fair and Christmas Festival!
As part of a program called Techsploration, NSPI Engineer Jennifer Gough brought six girls from New Germany Rural High School to the project site to show them firsthand what goes into constructing a wind farm. Techsploration empowers young women to explore careers in science, trades and technology. Thanks Jennifer for leading the group and to the girls for exploring our site!
